I know my act was poorly played
my toughest critics took note.
sternly was my performance weighed
I didn't follow the script God wrote.
I couldn't practice what I didn't learn
I didn't have a clue.
So I never got the love I yearn
I didn't have the glue.
I am sorry I forgot my lines
and caused your heart a hurtin
Even though I let you down
Please don't close the curtain
I know I made a lousy host
and didn't seem to care
and hurt those that matter most
and treated them unfair
I don't deserve a second chance
and I'd gladly pay the wage
to try again to sing and dance
to play upon the stage
My part is scary every day
and my sole is so uncertain
My healing is what I pray
